About Ovico Gallery

A single-artist gallery

A gallery kept as the record of one artist

Ovico maintains a monograph, not a roster. One painter, Chike Onuorah, held in full and presented with the rigor of a museum collection.

Our record

Ovico Gallery began in Lagos out of a single conviction: that contemporary African painting deserves a permanent, serious stage. What started as a place to encounter the work in person now serves collectors, advisors, and designers across the world.

The premise has not moved. We hold one artist’s practice in full, and we present it with the care of a monograph rather than the churn of a marketplace.

II

The artist at the center

The gallery exists for one body of work. Chike Onuorah is a contemporary African artist with a practice spanning more than three decades, the originator of three movements, and, in 2025, the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award in Lagos.

Exclusive representation means provenance begins and ends with the gallery. Every canvas enters the record, is documented, and remains part of one continuous line of work.

III

What we hold to

A painting should carry both cultural memory and lasting worth. A story is part of the work, which is why each original leaves the gallery with the poem the artist wrote beside it.

A collector deserves confidence, so every work is documented on entry and held within a record that can be read for generations.

How we work with collectors

We favor fewer, more considered acquisitions over volume. Whether you are an established collector, a wealth advisor, an interior designer, or acquiring your first significant piece, we guide you through the work, its record, and its place within a collection.

Private viewings are arranged by appointment, and a provenance and condition report accompanies every acquisition.
